The wedding of Dawn & Jonny

Dawn and Jonny got married at Moness earlier this year and here is their romantic tale explaining how they met and why Moness became their ideal wedding venue.

How did you meet?
We were lucky enough to be introduced to each other by our mutual friends, a couple who we are both still great friends with to this day and got the jobs of being Best Man and bridemaid at our big day.

Tell us about the proposal?

I was really impressed. We had booked a holiday to Gran Canaria and whilst on the trip we went to a beautiful beach where Jonny asked me to go for a walk (which I was initially reluctant to do as was happily relaxing on a sun lounger!). During the walk he got down on one knee and pulled out a gorgeous ring to propose, there were people walking past and cheering, it was a lovely moment and Jonny did so well to catch me unaware as I knew absolutely nothing about it.

Why did you choose Moness as your wedding venue? 

I went along to a Wedding Fair where Moness had a stand and after speaking to your events co-ordinator I came away very impressed! We hadn’t booked anything at this point, so I went home and spoke with Jonny before arranging a visit to see the facilities in person. We just loved the fact that all of our wedding party could come and stay, the beautiful surroundings and the impressive marquee.

Tell us about your wedding day at Moness?

It was such a wonderful day and went off without a hitch!

The girls had such a calm morning getting ready and there was lots of space in the Hotel Suite for hair and makeup as it has an extra living area within it. We were really lucky with the weather too as the sun was shining from very early on. When I walked in the marquee, I was feeling emotional anyway but it just looked so beautiful. I chose hessian and lace chair covers as we chose a natural, rustic theme and they looked so good, it’s fantastic that you Moness offer a range of chair cover options to choose from.

The day went so smoothly, from the drinks reception to the speeches and the meal which we couldn’t fault. The food was absolutely fantastic and managed to cater a coeliac, a vegan and gluten free without any fuss! In the evening the marquee looked beautiful with the fairy lights and outside looked so pretty too with the festoon lighting.

We are so glad that we chose to have our wedding at Moness. Everything being in the one place just made it simple and we could just enjoy being a lovely weekend with our family and friends. We couldn’t have asked for more and we have such lovely memories which we will cherish forever.

How did the team at Moness play a part in your special day?

Kirsty, our Wedding Co-ordinator, was fantastic at communicating with us both by email and over the phone, she was really reassuring and confident in her role, and this gave us the confidence that Moness knew what they were doing! The team took the stress out of organisation for us and they were only a phone call away if we needed anything.

Over the weekend of our wedding, the team were so helpful. Josh, the resort’s Food & Beverage Manager, was there to make sure the day went as they should and his team were welcoming and friendly. It all went so smoothly and that was down to the staff.

What was your most memorable moment?

Our most memorable moment was when we went off to get our photos taken. It was nice just having a little bit of quiet time, just the two of us, to take it all in. The grounds are so beautiful that we managed to capture some lovely images with my favourite being next to the duck pond.

What advice would you offer other couples in the run up to their wedding day?
