"The Perthshire Amber Festival distilled to "The Big 4 Days" in it’s 12th year exceeded all expectations once again with sold out concerts and so many happy festival-goers! Festival director Jenny MacLean commented "It's been a wonderful journey so far for Dougie and myself and many of our family and friends through the 12 years of Perthshire Amber.
A journey full of wonderful music and musical friendships re-kindled, of discovering truly stunning venues all over Perthshire and welcoming so many enthusiasts for Dougie's music to his beautiful home county. We've had disappointments and frustrations here and there, but we've never had any insurmountable problems. Call me superstitious but I just don't want to organise a 13th year! I have a feeling something would go terribly wrong.... and you can't argue with gut instinct.
We totally value the support and goodwill that has grown over the years from the ever increasing number of businesses that have become festival sponsors and PALS. We hope that many festival fans will still come to Perthshire in 2017 and support this special list! So .... after a break in 2017, with time to reflect and project, the festival may blaze back with renewed vigour in the autumn of 2018 or beyond". Jenny and Dougie MacLean.
The Story So Far
"I've long dreamt of a 'festival-type' situation where I could really enjoy performing a wide body of my own work. After many years of accumulating quite a lot of songs and tunes, it can be frustrating sometimes that concerts can only last a couple of hours!" (Dougie MacLean)
Internationally acclaimed Singer-songwriter and Composer Dougie MacLean fulfilled his dream with the creation of the Perthshire Amber Festival
There could not be a better location for such a Festival, surrounded by the golden autumn colours of the magnificent Perthshire setting.
